RI Guest Speaker Series

Special Session hosted by the RI Peace with Eating Special Focus Group
"Lifestyle and Nutrition as a Missing Link in Mental Health Care"
presented by Tina Musselman*
What happens outside therapy and medications may be just as critical to mental health recovery as what happens inside. Join Tina Musselman in this interactive session as she unpacks the science behind how lifestyle factors like nutrition, sleep and movement deeply impact emotional well-being – and why they’re often overlooked in traditional mental health care and treatment planning. Drawing from her clinical work, lived experience, and emerging research from thought leaders, Tina explores the gut-brain connection, micronutrients and mood, and the ripple effects of metabolic health and lifestyle factors as contributors to poor mental health.
Attendees will leave with practical tools, screen tips, and referral strategies and gain a deeper understanding of how partnering with professionals like dieticians or nutritionists can enhance client outcomes and create more sustainable pathways to mental wellness.
* Tina Musselman, LPC, RDN, CLT is a licensed professional counselor and registered dietitian specializing in whole-person wellness.

Recovery International periodically offers guest speakers on topics of interest to our members as part of a Guest Speakers Series. Participants need to understand that these speakers come from outside of RI and may not have any familiarity with Dr. Low's teachings. The speakers are recommended by RI members or groups. While every attempt is made to screen the speakers, the information the speakers provide cannot be endorsed or recommended by our organization. It is up to participants to practice self-leadership in determining if any information provided by the speakers is appropriate for them. We strongly recommend that participants seek consultation with their medical professionals if appropriate.
